Ingredients You‘ll Need:

Apple (2) – Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious, and Fuji, etc.

Almond butter (3 tbsp)

Unsweetened granola (3 tbsp)

Cinnamon (1/8 tsp)

Dark chocolate chips (1/4 cup)

How to Make Healthy Apple Snacks

Step 1. Start by cutting the apples into large wedges and removing the seeds.

Step 2. You can use a small paring knife or melon baller like this to remove the core and seeds. These are the tools that work best, so you aren‘t cutting away too much of the delicious apple.

Step 3. Keep the peels on! They have lots of added fiber and nutrients. Slice the pieces into flat wedges. They should be about ¼“- ½“ inch / ½ cm thick.

Try to keep the wedges as flat as possible, so it‘s easier to spread the nut butter.

Step 4. Spread the almond butter evenly across the apple wedges. Then sprinkle the granola and cinnamon on each wedge.

Sprinkle the granola and cinnamon over all of the apples at the same time. This is much quicker than doing one apple at a time.

Step 5. Now for the best part, the dark chocolate drizzle! Place the dark chocolate in a bowl. Melt in the microwave in 30-second increments.

Stir the chocolate every 30 seconds or so. This will help the chocolate melt and prevent it from burning.

Step 6. Use a small spoon to drizzle the chocolate over the apple slices.

What Goes Well With Apple Slices?

Almond butter and peanut butter are great because they are easy to find. Make sure you are buying unsweetened nut butter. We don‘t want any of the jars that have added sugars.

You can even try walnut butter or pecan butter. They would be something different and delicious to try. Sunflower seed butter like this is another great option for those who cannot eat nuts.

Nut butters offer a great way to add protein and fiber to apples. There are also options out there with added nutrients like MCT oil you can get here.

How Long Are Apples Good For?

Apples themselves stay good to eat for a very long time. They will stay fresh for 6-8 weeks if you keep them in a cool, dry area.

They will stay fresh longer if you keep them in the refrigerator. Be sure to eat these apple snacks right away, though. They taste the best fresh!
