Tips and Tricks to Make a Healthy Toast
What Bread to Use
These days there is so much choice when it comes to bread! I highly suggest going for whole-grain bread. I usually go with larger slices because I want to fill myself up.
However, you can easily use smaller bread pieces too. I also love my bread with seeds, because these are usually higher in fiber and fats.
Tip: Keep your bread fresh for longer by freezing it. You can easily pop frozen bread into the toaster, and it’ll be ready in a couple of minutes.
Healthy Toast Spreads
When it comes to spreads for the toast, there is so much choice! For sweet toasts, make sure you’ve got some honey, peanut butter, and cream cheese at home.
Also, make sure you’ve got some butter, goat cheese, or cottage cheese in your fridge to keep the variety. Finally, have some avocados because they go a long way when it comes to any type of spread!
Healthy Toast Toppings
I love having a toast in the morning just because you can get so creative with them. Combine different toppings, and you’ll have a new healthy low-calorie meal!
To make your toasts savory, use your favorite veggies: tomatoes, cucumbers, or even red bell peppers. To introduce some sweetness to the combo, I would use fruits and berries: bananas, pineapples, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc.
A bit of crunchiness is needed too! So, add in seeds and nuts to make them extra nutritious! I love to incorporate sesame seeds, flax seeds, sunflower seeds, cashews, etc.
Finally, always have some dill or parsley around, some of your favorite spices, and a little bit of honey! Even a little bit of salt and pepper can transform the way your toast tastes!
