Avocado toast is an easy, nutritious breakfast anyone can make! Here are 12 different variations of avocado toast with all sorts of toppings. High in healthy fats and filling!
When it comes to breakfast, sometimes we just don’t have the time to make it! That’s probably the reason why toast is the most popular breakfast out there.
Well, I like my toast a little more nutritious and filling. And that’s where avocado toast just doesn’t let down.
It’s often more filling than your regular toast due to all the healthy fats avocados have. On top of that, it’s full of dietary fiber which helps us fill up and prepares your digestion for the day to come.
So, today I’m sharing my favorite 12 avocado toast recipes with different toppings, both savory and sweet.
How to Make Avocado Toast
- Start with picking the bread that you’ll like. Whole grain bread is more nutritious, thus will keep you full for longer. I personally like my bread seeded.
- Pick good avocados. I usually buy my avocados green and let them ripen before using. If you do buy a ripe avocado, just make sure to use it in the next two days.
- Mash avocado in a separate bowl. That will make it smoother and easier to spread on the bread. However, you can just mash it inside the avocado shell. I show how to do that in the video below.
- Find a good setting for toasting your bread. If you’re trying a new bread, it might need your settings adjusted. If the bread is frozen, make sure you increase the time of toasting.
- Use salt, herbs, and sauce you love. It’s the little extra ingredients that make each toast special. Feel free to improvise with sauces you have, add a little salt and give it an extra touch with herbs you have at home.
What to Put on Avocado Toast
That’s where fun truly begins! There are so many toppings you can go with:
- Meats/protein: smoked salmon, cooked bacon, fried, boiled eggs, cheese, etc.
- Fruits: mango, peach, strawberries, bananas, apples, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, etc.
- Vegetables: tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, lettuce, peppers, etc.
- Legumes: beans, chickpeas, and seeds.
- Mushrooms
- Herbs: fresh basil, cilantro, dill, and parsley.
